The Carolina Hurricanes have reached the point of where they should be barred from playing in the Eastern Conference Finals. Thursday Night’s 5-0 loss to the Florida marked the 14th straight loss for the Hurricanes franchise in Conference Final games. The series shifted to Florida in Game 3 and it was more of the same as the defending Cup Champions flexed their muscles in a 6-2 thrashing of the Hurricanes, marking a 15th straight Eastern Conference Finals loss. Barring the 2023 ECF where they got swept but were competitive, Carolina got steamrolled by Pittsburgh in 2009 where Evgeni Malkin torched them with 6 goals, 3 assists in four games, while Boston followed same script 10 years later in outscoring the Canes 17-5, while Florida in the 2025 ECF thus far has outscored Carolina 16-4.
