Another Penguin has likely come down with the mumps. Penguins GM Jim Rutherford told reporters moments ago that Beau Bennett has symptoms of the mumps and is currently being quarantined. The Penguins are awaiting tests to confirm the suspicion.
Bennett is currently on injured reserve due to a knee injury. He was recently skating on his own and was one of the players who was at Children’s Hospital on Thursday during the Penguins visit which just makes the whole situation worse.
The Penguins claim Sidney Crosby is no longer contagious and will rejoin the team tomorrow. Rutherford called the Penguins medical team the “best in the league.”
Rangers center Derek Brassard was the latest NHL player to come down with the mumps and Rangers coach Alain Vigneault suggested Brassard got the mumps from Crosby as the two were going head to head in Monday’s matchup.
