Penguins GM Jim Rutherford announced moments ago via a team release that Marc Andre Fleury, Robert Bortuzzo and Olli Maatta were not feeling well and are being tested for mumps as a precaution.
Beau Bennett was officially diagnosed with mumps Tuesday and Sidney Crosby has been cleared to skate and practiced on his own this morning.
Like Bennett, Maatta and Bortuzzo are also currently sidelined by injuries. Bortuzzo is dealing with a short-term injury, while Maatta has re aggravated the same shoulder he had surgery on in May and a second opinion sought Monday was made to dictate the Penguins next course of action regarding the injury as the first opinion received wasn’t positive.
