The way to sum up Gerrit Cole’s (6-7, 3.74 ERA) rookie season is efficient. Cole continued that trend Tuesday night, allowing 5 hits and 2 earned runs in 6 innings pitched vs the Milwaukee Brewers. Cole struck out 5 and walked 1, throwing 59 strikes on 92 pitches. Cole has now allowed 3 earned runs or less in 14 of his first 15 career starts. Despite throwing in the high 90’s, he’s unlikely to become a high strikeout pitcher but what’s been impressive with Cole has been the lack of walks. Cole has walked 2 batters or less in 14 of 15 starts.
