• Francisco Liriano continues to look like the pitcher from last year just at the right time. Liriano allowed one run over six innings in a 9-1 Pirates win over the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday night. A key stretch in the game for Liriano was getting out of a bases loaded jam in the first inning. The Pirates were off the races after that. Liriano has now allowed two earned runs or less in 11 of his last 12 starts. He walk 5 batters, though, in Wednesday’s start.
