• In possibly his last start of the season, Gerrit Cole tied a career high with 12 strikeouts in a dominant outing vs the Reds on Sunday afternoon. Cole went seven innings, allowing 4 hits, 1 run, striking out 12 and allowing no walks. Cole threw 71 strikes on 102 pitches. He exited with the game tied at 1-1 but the Reds broke the game open in the 8th with three runs off Pirate relievers to take a 4-1 lead. Starting Cole today took him out of the mix to start in Wednesday’s wildcard game.
