millerMILLER WON’T START YEAR ON PUP LIST

Production out of the tight end group is going to be sparse for the Steelers the first couple weeks of the season but help is going to be on the way. Heath Miller remains on the track to return as early as late September, team sources contend.
Head coach Mike Tomlin today called Miller’s progress “great”. He’s doing great,” Tomlin said. “He really is. We’ll look more hard-core at him when we get back from Carolina, obviously, but the fact that I mentioned his name would give an indication that things are progressing and progressing nicely.”
The sense on Miller is that he will go through two full weeks of practice starting next week and barring no setbacks, could put himself in the position to play by week 3 or 4, though, the cautious route would be to hold Miller out until after the week 5 bye.
David Paulson enters the season as the No. 1 tight end but he’s a player you have to hide as he can’t block and struggles to catch in traffic.
