Jose Tabata was among 12 players re-assigned this morning. Tabata will start the year in Triple-A. He batted .167 (5-30) in spring training.
Tabata is scheduled to earn $4 million this season and is due $31 million over the next five seasons. Luckily for the Pirates, the deal includes a $250,000 buyout option in 2017.
The others re-assigned this morning included Brent Morel, Gustavo Nunez, Deibinson Romero, Sebastian Valle, Josh Wall, Bobby LaFromboise, Deolis Guerra, Gorkys Hernandez, Charlie Leesman, Brad Lincoln, and Steve Lombardozzi.
