Followup on Sidney Crosby:
The Penguins have released official word saying Crosby indeed had surgery for a broken jaw on Saturday evening. The team says Crosby is “out indefinitely” and that an exact timetable will be known later in the week.
The surgery was performed by Dr. Bernard Costello of UPMC.
A source close to the situation said an hour ago that that Crosby would be sidelined at least a few weeks.
The playoffs start April 30/May 1.
Notes: Defenseman Paul Martin underwent surgery today on a broken bone in his hand and will be out four to six weeks.
