PENGUINS SIGN ERIC HARTZELL
The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed Quinnipiac goaltender Eric Hartzell to a one year entry level deal worth $925,000. According to the Penguins, Hartzell’s contract is for the “2012-2013 season” so he joins the organization immediately.

Hartzell was a Hobey Baker Award finalist and is a big goaltender at 6-foot-4, 190-pounds. Hartzell had an excellent senior season leading Quinnipiac to the National Title Game and went 30-7-5 with a 1.57 goals-against average and .933 save percentage in 42 starts this season. Hartzell posted 5 shutouts.
A four year player at Quinnipiac, Hartzell posted a career record of 58-27-17 with a 1.96 goals-against average, .924 save percentage and 10 shutouts in 106 games played.
