An anonymous source has revealed to the BuzzontheBurgh, the Steelers and Troy Polamalu are very close to agreeing to an 5-6 year extension that would make Polamalu the games highest paid safety. The deal is believed to include a 17 million signing bonus. The only minor issue that needs to be worked out is the backend of the contract. Ravens safety Ed Reed is currently the highest paid safety in the game. Reed signed a 6 year deal worth 40 million in 2006 that included a 15 million dollar signing bonus.

Announcement is expected later this week. more on this later
