The Pittsburgh Steelers are hosting Wake Forest cornerback Brandon Ghee today, a source close to Ghee tells Inside Pittsburgh Sports this morning.
The Steelers scheduled the visit with Ghee weeks ago and attended Ghee’s pro-day last week.
Ghee who has several visits set up, has 1st round talent and is regarded by most scouts as a potential late 2nd-to-3rd round prospect.
A three year starter at Wake Forest, Ghee (6ft0 – 192lbs) is a tremendous cover corner with elite size and speed. Ghee ran a 4.45 forty-yard dash at the combine, which ranked 1st among cornerbacks. One scout clocked him with an unofficial time of 4.33.
Ghee’s character off the field fits the kind of players the Steelers target in the draft as he is a well educated person and extremely hard worker.
Ghee is represented by the same agent as Pittsburgh Steelers 2009 1st round pick Ziggy Hood and Ghee has a work ethic off the field that resembles Hood’s.
One reason Ghee’s draft stock has fallen to the late 2nd-to-3rd round is because his tremendous physical skills don’t always meet the production.
The Steelers on Wednesday hosted cornerbacks Kyle Wilson, Kareem Jackson, and Nolan Carroll.
