The Pittsburgh Steelers have made it clear to Jerricho Cotchery that they want him back and Cotchery’s top choice is to return to the Steelers.
Whether the two can strike a deal remains to be seen due the Steelers still being a reported $11.7 million over the salary cap, despite clearing over $18 million in cap space.
Cotchery though intends to give the Steelers every chance to sign him but after playing for the veteran minimum last season, Cotchery is eyeing some security on a long-term deal.
Cotchery tells Jenny Vrentas of the New York Star Ledger that he hopes the Steelers offer him a multi-year deal.
“In exit meetings (with the Steelers), it was pretty much stated that they were very pleased with me, who I was on the field and off the field,” Cotchery said today at TEST Sports Clubs in Martinsville, which has newly partnered with Parisi Speed School. “I’m everything that they thought I would be, so from their standpoint, they definitely would want me back. And I expressed the same desire, so we’ll see what happens.”
