32 year old Petr Sykora is coming off of a 25 goal season in which he only scored only 5 goals in his final 33 games. The veteran forward has drawn interest from a number of teams and is currently looking for the “right situation”

Petr Sykora will not be returning to Pittsburgh which has been known for sometime but the veteran forward expects to sign a guaranteed contract by the first week of August.
Sykora has drawn interest from a number of teams including the Islanders, Devils, Predators, Lightning, Panthers, Canucks and Red Wings, sources tell Inside Pittsburgh Sports.
Sykora’s camp is looking to stay away from teams who are looking to play an up-tempo system which is why Sykora’s interest in Nashville has cooled over the past week.
For teams like the Islanders and Panthers, Sykora is their plan B as both teams wait for Alex Tanguay to decide on his future.
Allan Walsh the agent for Sykora plans to wait until Tanguay signs, to get more teams in the mix.
One team that has been “kicking the tires” on Sykora is the Detroit Red Wings. Mike Babcock coached Sykora in Anaheim and the two recently spoke on the phone.
There has been no confirmation as to whether the Red Wings have made an offer.
In 76 games played, Sykora has 25 goals, 21 assists for 46 points last season.
