The Boston Bruins have been making headlines lately. The Bruins looking to move some salary and are entertaining offers for forwards Phil Kessel,Peter Schaefer and P.J. Axelsson. The Bruins efforts have been towards Schaefer who underachieved last season. Team’s are scared of his price tag but if he is placed on re-entry waivers there will be quite a few teams interested in the former 20 goal scorer. Pittsburgh does have interest if Schaefer goes on re-entry waivers according to a source. Penguins scouts were very high on Schaefer following the Senators – Penguins series in 06-07. Pittsburgh even made a play for Schaefer that summer.
The Bruins have also received calls regarding the availability of Marc Savard. The only scenario the Bruins have explored moving Savard is for Panthers D Jay Bouwmeester. The Bruins will make a major play for Bouwmeester this winter
There may be two Marian’s in the central division this winter. Sources indicate the Chicago Blackhawks are going to make a play for Marian Gaborik if they find a way to get rid of G Nikolai Khabibulin’s salary. The Blackhawks have also been looking at mid-tier players like Michael Nylander and Marc Savard.
