At last year’s trade deadline the Penguins made a play for Olli Jokinen. I learned this week that when Marian Hossa informed the Penguins he was declining their offer on the day of the draft there were some executives in the Penguins organization that wanted to make a offer for Jokinen but Ray Shero was not ready to give up on signing Marian Hossa. Due to the Penguins/Panthers talks at the draft about a Ryan Whitney/David Booth trade, some believe the Penguins could have had a strong chance to acquire Jokinen.
Marian Hossa is already paying dividends for the Detroit Red Wings. Hossa leads the Wings with 11 points including 5 points in his last two games.
