Former Penguins coach Michel Therrien has been out of coaching since 2009 but has re-emerged as a top candidate in the coaching landscape after being by-passed in New Jersey and Minnesota last summer.

Former Colorado Avalanche and Atlanta Thrashers coach Bob Hartley has been hired today by the Calgary Flames, setting up the stage for Therrien possibly returning to the Montreal Canadiens.
Therrien has interviewed twice with the Canadiens and is a top candidate for the position as new Habs GM Marc Bergevin looks to make his first hire within the next week.
How serious of a candidate is Therrien in Montreal? TSN’s Bob McKenzie reports the Canadiens are down to hiring Therrien or Marc Crawford.
Therrien has a career coaching record of 77-77-37 with the Canadiens (2000-2003).
