The Atlanta Thrashers have signed defenseman (Upper St. Clair, PA) Grant Lewis to a two-year contract, sources tell Inside Pittsburgh Sports.
The deal is worth $1.175 million over two years.
Lewis, 24, the Thrashers 2nd round pick in 2004, appeared in one game last season with the Thrashers, before suffering a season ending knee injury.
Appearing in 54 games for the (AHL) Chicago Wolves, Lewis recorded 22 assists and was tied for the team lead with a +17 rating prior to his injury.
An official announcement from the team will be made this week.
Thrashers re-sign Colby Armstrong
The Atlanta Thrashers came to terms with restricted free agent Colby Armstrong on a one year deal this morning. The 26-year-old Armstrong is coming off a career year, posting 22 goals and 18 assists for the Thrashers.
Armstrong was highly coveted around the league as the Thrashers received a number of inquiries about Armstrong throughout the year, off-season.
Among the teams that expressed significant interest in Armstrong was his former team, the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Atlanta made it known that they had no intention of moving Armstrong and were asking for a high draft pick and puck moving defenseman

Alex Goligoski.
