Tonight’s line up actually looks like a real team
Perron seems to struggle playing with high end talent… defers too much. Put him on the 3rd with Bonino and give us that match up nightmare
Agreed. If they didn’t have other viable options for the top 6 then I would press the issue but since they have 4-5 players that can all handle that top 6 role there’s really no reason to force something that isn’t there.
Can sprong play lw? If he pulls a maata/staal and forces ownerships hand, sprong malkin hornqvist would be an unreal second line. This would move plotnikov to 3rd or 4th. Plotnikov/dupuis bonino perron.
All we have to do is hold our nose and stay positive until April.
I can’t imagine the Pens actually going this route, but the math on it is that you can free $950K of Scuderi’s cap hit by burying him in the AHL. The rest of his cap hit is a sunk cost either way unless someone actually picked him up on waivers. Erixon as a replacement would only count for $600K, so there’s really no reason that shouldn’t be a straight up battle for a roster spot.
Isn’t it weird how which ever guy is paired up with Gonchar has a bad game? Strange how that works.
@shinoix that was an awesome comment. I agree. I haven’t read the other post about buff yet but I would argue the pens shouldn’t make any moves with Perron just yet. Let his stock raise and then trade him if we need to. Otherwise, let’s see what we got with Erixon, Clendening, Scuderi. I love you Lovejoy, but I don’t think he fits the system. I say that only because he was respected in ANA
Erixon and Clendening have both earned a chance to open the season. Gonchar has earned his way into a job somewhere in the organization, just not on the ice. Pouliot earned himself some time in WBS to work on his game from the redline back.
If Erixon and Clendening both show they can’t handle the game after 10 or so games at this level, then send them down. I doubt they get claimed if they play poorly enough to be sent down, and they would continue to be injury depth. Right now, they deserve a chance though.
