The Latest from today’s practice. Plus a update on Hal Gill, Daryl Sydor, and Matt Cooke. Blackhawks scouting a Penguins defenseman?

The Penguins worked on systems today. According to a source Therrien and his staff have been going through a lot of tape looking for ways to improve or change the system. They want to make adjustments to reduce the number of shots teams have been getting on them.
Matt Cooke is hopeful that he will play tomorrow against the Carolina Hurricanes. Cooke did not make the trip to Boston and stayed in Pittsburgh for treatment.
The Penguins mixed and matched their defensive pairs today. Daryl Sydor took some shifts with Alex Goligoski and Rob Scuderi. Goligoski was paired with Sydor during training camp, so we could see Eaton paired with Scuderi in Thursday’s game
A source tells me the Chicago Blackhawks who are in the market for a veteran defenseman are expected to have a scout in the building tomorrow night. The Hawks have been scouting the Carolina Hurricanes.
The Penguins were very mum on Hal Gill who was not on the ice this morning. He is not expected to play tomorrow.
Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby are expected to stay re-united for Thursday’s game.
Michel Therrien praised the play of Miroslav Satan. Satan took a few shifts with Staal/Sykora and we could see Fedotenko and Satan alternate on that line depending on the situation. Fedotenko did take the majority of the shifts.
