PENGUINS FREE AGENCY UPDATE III
Per Jonathan Willis, Edmonton reporter Bob Stauffer says the Penguins are “likely to sign” Leafs winger Clarke MacArthur. MacArthur had 8 goals and 20 points last season for the Leafs. Scouts feel in the right system and coach, he can be a 20 goal scorer again. MacArthur had 21 goals and 62 points for the Leafs in 2010-2011 and scored 20 goals in 2011-2012.
He’s an excellent skater and the Penguins are a team that loves advanced stats. MacArthur had he second best corsi rating on the Leafs. While there’s been contact between the Penguins and MacArthur’s agent Don Meehan, a source confirms to Inside Pittsburgh Sports, Pittsburgh’s focus has been finalizing a deal for defenseman Rob Scuderi, the Penguins top priority. A decision will be made soon by Scuderi and a deal with Pittsburgh is considered likely.The Kings believe Scuderi is headed to Penguins.
