PENGUINS FREE AGENT UPDATE
Was told a while back the Penguins miscalculated in the summer 2009 believing the cap wouldn’t rise like it ended up doing in 2010-2012 and Shero today called it a mistake that Rob Scuderi was let go in 2009. “It was a mistake to let {Rob} Scuderi go on my part,” Shero said during his media session.
Shero feels Scuderi could play with anybody in the top-6 on the blueline, but an ideal partner appears to be Kris Letang with the Penguins going with a top-2 pairs of Paul Martin – Brooks Orpik and Rob Scuderi – Kris Letang.
“I think he has the ability to play with anybody, Shero said of Scuderi.
Shero made it clear that the Penguins don’t have to be under the cap until the start of the regular season, and they are still looking at adding to the roster.

The team is in talks with Dan Cleary as we mentioned in the previous article and Shero confirmed that Craig Adams is still in play.
“Craig Adams is still the guy I would have a spot for,” Shero said.
Matt Cooke will not return is the word from Penguins sources and the Cooke camp.
